ABOUT
Vision
MOPSsys endeavors to apply the best technology available so that pulp and papermakers can achieve the greatest benefits from their mills and enterprise.
We want you to be delighted with your MOPS installation. So, right at the start, we help you define your high-payback applications, and we configure your MOPS system to run them. Consequently, your results pay for the system in months, not years. Here are some key benefits reported to us by our many MOPS users:
Mission
MOPS improves customer service.
Information is shown on paper quality and process conditions by grade, reel, set and roll. This includes all the real-time profile data. When a customer calls about a roll that’s not running well, the mill technical and services representative simply keys in the customer order and all quality data instantly appears, including the scanned profile information. All this is done with the customer on the phone, so that the roll quality attributes can be discussed immediately.
MOPS reduces quality losses
Every process start, stop and slowdown deteriorates product quality, many times creating off-spec product. So process operators and engineers continually use MOPS to smooth out the processes, producing far less off-spec paper. And these process improvements go on day after day after day — to the great benefit of the mill and its customers.
MOPS increases productivity
The same process and quality improvements described above create higher productivity for the mill. Better process coordination also improves productivity. Everyone sees what’s going on throughout the mill so that a concerted effort can be made to progress forward.
History
1980
MOPS history goes back to early 1980’s where the first generation of MOPS systems was grown out of various process control system solutions for the pulp and paper industry that previously MoDo Chemetics both developed and delivered mainly to the Nordic and North American market.
The MOPS product suite have since then been developed and productized by different principal owners, AkerKvaerner and Tieto.
2010
In early 2010, via a friendly management buy-out, Eurocon MOPSsys acquired the intellectual property rights from Tieto for the MOPS product at that time named TIPS Info. Eurocon MOPSsys is now taking the MOPS product suite to the next level and developing the system to its 4th generation.
2018
February 2018, Toronto based Constellation Software Inc. (CSI) acquired 100% of the shares of Eurocon MOPSsys AB (Sweden) and Eurocon MOPSsys Inc. (Canada). Due to the ownership change Eurocon MOPSsys AB and Eurocon MOPSsys Inc. will change name to MOPSsys AB and MOPSsys Inc. MOPSsys will be operating under CSI operating group PERSEUS.
